Instead of conventional round wire springs, coil springs, or wavey washers, more and more design engineers are specifying compression wave rings for taking up play and compensating for dimensional variations in tight radial and axial spaces under both static and dynamic conditions. Reason: compared to those alternatives, compact wave rings save space and provide more precise load deflection characteristics. This allows engineers to design smaller assemblies with lower free lengths and/ or lower operating heights- sometimes by as much as 50%- while improving deflection characteristics. |
