GROB TowerChain push-pull chain used in parking solurion

Smart Parking with Tower Chain System

In the space-constrained environment of Marina del Rey, Los Angeles, GROB’s TowerChain technology plays a key role in a fully automated parking solution. The system allows drivers to leave their vehicle at an entry station, while the parking platform automatically transports and stores it within a multi-storey parking structure.

Dasher Lawless ‘ AUTOParkit™ system is designed to eliminate parking stress and maximise the use of space. Crucial to this innovative system is GROB’s TowerChain, a push-chain system capable of lifting heavy loads. The TowerChain modules push against the platform from below, eliminating the need for expensive ceiling bracing that would be required for steel tension cables.

Smart parking solution using GROB's TowerChain

The high load-bearing capacity of each individual chain link makes it possible to lift vehicles weighing over 5 tons, while ensuring an even distribution of forces. The compact design of the push chain housings results in a significantly smaller footprint compared to conventional systems. Without any rope slack or risk of slippage, the lifting mechanism operates smoothly. This not only protects the mechanical components but also provides user confidence in the system.

TowerChain’s modular design simplifies maintenance by enabling rapid replacement of wear components. Combined with long lubrication intervals, this helps maximise system availability and lower lifetime operating costs.

The result is a compact, smooth-running and low-maintenance automated parking system that maximises parking capacity where space is at a premium. This project demonstrates how TowerChain helps engineers overcome challenging space limitations while delivering dependable vertical lifting performance.
